Wat Phnom in Phnom Penh Cambodia is a beautiful temple worth visiting. On the afternoon we visited the sun was close to setting casting a light blue hue over the whole place. The grounds are peaceful and many ladies were sitting outside counting money. Wat Phnom, Phnom Penh, Cambodia is the highest religious temple in the city. Well worth the 1$ visit.

The View

When you first walk up the walkway and the stairs, walk around the temple and take in the view. They city is busy and loud, yet from the top of Wat Phnom it seems calm and at ease.

The Inside

You’ll see money everywhere. Small bills of cash offered as a gift for a happy life, good grades, or health.

Wat Phnom is a special place and the history is evident on the walls and all the carvings. Overall, it’s an active temple with a strong history.

This temple reminded me of one we visited in Hong Kong simply because it was in use – and there were a lot of local people around and little tourists. To me, it feels more real, like you’re being let into their real life and seeing a moment of truth and honesty. I was grateful for the experience.

In the end Phnom Penh is a wonderful city to visit. It’s busy, has a lot to do, and is an easy stopping point if you’re travelling between Cambodia and Vietnam. Visit the Wat Phnom if you have time – it’s worth it. Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to sharing more travel posts with you this week. Bye!
