Travel: Emirates Heritage Village
The Emirates Heritage Village is on the peninsula in Abu Dhabi – a must see sight! Yet I’ll admit, it’s a bit touristy. The history was educational and interesting and seeing the city from the far side was cool. Plus, we were spending our day in this part of town, so it was worth the visit. Okay, let’s check out some photos.
Emirates Heritage Village
First up, you’ll need to register at the tourist office – nothing overly official, you need to sign in and that’s about it. It’s free to visit and they do have facilities and water fountains. Oh, and a little market which is fun to check out, too.
Once you’re in the village, be sure you make your way down to the water, the view of the city is stunning!
We visited a few of the huts and learned a lot – from guns to pottery, it was in some ways better than a museum.
I know it’s not the same thing, yet this touristy spot reminded me of Mackinac Island in northern Michigan. It’s the feeling of back to basics – representing the world as it once was back in time. Just like at Mackinac it’s the architecture of the buildings that resonates with me.
The bonus here at the Emirates Heritage Village is the camels!
All in all, we had a nice morning at the village – we learned a lot and enjoyed the cultural history.
Up next, we walked to the other side of the peninsula – we’re walkers, yet take an Uber if it’s too hot – we spent the afternoon inside at the observation deck. Those photos coming soon!
Thanks for stopping by and for checking out this very tourist attraction in Abu Dhabi.
Have a great weekend – and happy early father’s day – safe travels! See you again soon.
