Travel: Fitzwilliam Museum
Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge – it’s not only an amazing place to spend an afternoon, but it’s also free. That’s right, this whole place, fancy art, stunning statues, and impressive history is all free to check out at your own pace. So, tie up your shoes and check it out. I’ll share a few (okay, a lot!) of my favourites below.
Fitzwilliam Museum
First up, the entryway. You can enter off to the side, but the main entrance is worth it. It’s not accessible, so not suitable for everyone. The drama, though, is stunning.
Here’s what it looks like from the inside. It’s as grand as grand could be, right?!
Okay, there’s a lot to see here, so if you’re in a rush, then simply see the things that appeal to you. We spent about 3 hours here, walking, talking, and taking it all in.
The different plates, tea cups, and other porcelain items are extravagant, truly. They have a deep history, and while some are super ugly, others are pretty cool, and I wish I could buy them.
Up next, some knights and classical paintings.
I’m a huge fan of this colourful piece below.
And this bust is spot on.
Now, for some of my favourites – Monet. Oh, and there’s a Seurat, too.
They had a handful of Degas sculptures and paintings, yet I didn’t take many photos of them since I spent my time staring and enjoying. Phone away, fully present. It’s worth taking the time to enjoy to the fullest, don’t you think?!
All in all, we had an awesome time at the Fitzwilliam Museum – be sure to check it out.
Happy travelling – see you all again soon. Oh, and don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers and look at the art – you’ll be happy you took the time.
Thanks for stopping by.
