Travel: London Snapshot

London snapshot – we spent 4 full of fun days in London and I want to share some quick highlights with you.

First, London is big, busy, and totally British! Bryce asked me at dinner on Monday night if London was everything I thought it would be. I didn’t really know how to answer, since I didn’t really know what to expect before coming here. I’m a believer in low expectations, since then it’s not so likely you’ll be disappointed, right?

It’s a big city and at some points feels like many other big cities, yet at other points it feels distinctly like London. The tube, for example, during a Tuesday morning rush is something I’m happy to have experienced, yet isn’t something I’d like to do everyday.

The history and royalty that is embedded into so many aspects of London life isn’t even describable. Stop at Monument Station and you’ll walk out of the tube and be awe struck by the Monument to the Great Fire of London which was completed in 1677. Ah, that’s almost 350 years old. Wow. Canada has only been a country for 152 years, so talk about being young.

It’s that history I find fascinating and energizing. I will for sure share more detailed posts later, like where we stayed, what we did, and what we ate.

Thanks for visiting and reading the London snapshot – now, we’re headed off to France for more travel adventures. Yahoo!
