Travel: Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art

Mathaf- Arab Museum of Modern Art

The Mathaf – Arab Museum of Modern Art is one of the best art museums I’ve ever been to. It’s not big, yet it’s packed with meaningful and impactful pieces. From paintings to sculptures, it’s got it. Plus, the focus on Arab Art is inspirational. It’s free and we spent about 2 hours here at the end of our day in Education City. And, if you’re in the mood for a snack, there’s a Joe and the Juice on site – neat, eh?! Okay, let’s dive into some photos.

Okay, now for some photos of the art! Note you can’t bring in a bag, drinks, or food, however, they have free lockers for you to store your stuff, so not to worry if you’re travelling with items. Oh, and did I mention that admission is free, too?! So cool.

I love the piece above, all the texture, all the colours, and all the shapes – it’s impactful for sure.

These concrete and wood pieces were magical – so neat.

The Mathaf – Arab Museum of Modern Art is an enlightening way to spend an afternoon, especially after visiting the gardens. The intimate rooms, the detailed descriptions, and the collections provide an unmatched experience. If you’re in the area, be sure to check it out. They do close temporarily from time to time to update their collection, however, it’s awesome they keep the art current.

The Education City tram will drop you off right around the corner, so getting there isn’t too difficult. Plus, we took an Uber back to our hotel in Old Town Doha and it wasn’t more than $13.00 Canadian. Very reasonable.

All in all, worth the visit.

Thanks for stopping by and we wish you an awesome adventure on your next trip!
