DIY: West Elm Tree Stump Side Table
DIY West Elm Tree Stump Side Table
Yes, you can make this yourself!
About 4 months ago I had the Best Birthday and Bryce and I built a tree stump side tables or stools for our living room. The inspiration came from living in a cedar home and loving wood – and having a few down trees in the yard that were dry and ready for a project.
Now, why would you want to order this stump from West Elm? I can see that you may not have the tools, the time, nor the wood at your disposal; yet then you’ll be paying for an item you know full well is over priced. Sometimes we pay for convenience, like paying for an 80$ oil change when you could do it yourself for less than half of that. Or buying a Starbucks muffin when you could bake your own for a fraction of the cost. I get it, I do.
What I want to do here, however, is show you how you can do it yourself, too! Decisions are easier when you have all of the information, right? Ya they are! So, take a look and you decide.
Here is a little quick comparison:
West Elms stump = 249$ US (above)
versus
DIY stump = 5$ CAN (below)
The project doesn’t come without a little work, of course!
For the full tutorial, visit the Best Birthday Post. You’ll need a few hours, some clothes you don’t mind getting a little dusty and a few country tools (like a chainsaw). Time to get started on your project.
Look at that! After this project, you’ll have had an afternoon full of fun and your pocket will still be full. Good times.
A huge thank you to my husband for teaching me how to use the chainsaw safely and for one of the best birthdays ever!
See you again soon.
