Recipe: Healthy Bacon and Cheese Dogs
296 calories or 450 calories? All for the same amount of food (see below). I think I’ll eat 3 rather than 2…not that I could eat that much, haha! Let’s get cooking these healthy bacon and cheese dogs.
Floating around Pinterest and even popping up on Facebook are quick recipes for cheese stuffed hot dogs wrapped in bacon…try this healthier and less caloric alternative, and it tastes better, too!
Field Roast makes great products and these frankfurters are no exception – full of flavour and heartiness – and real food, not jammed with artificial soy projects (or bleached animal parts, like in hot dogs) that will clog your system.
Ingredients
- Field Roast Frankfurter
- Light pizza mozzarella – 20g
- 2 slices of turkey bacon
First – get out your dogs. Slice open carefully and stuff with cheese. Wrap 2 slices of turkey bacon around the frank and use toothpicks to hold in place. Fire up the grill and put them on!
Move them around every 2 minutes or so for even cooking (and superb cheese melting).
Grab a bun and you’re all set – don’t forget the mustard!
Enjoy!
