Sewing: Baby Girl Shower Gifts
Baby Girl Shower Gifts
In purple – the perfect way to celebrate.
At work two of the girls who I supervise are having babies and both are girls. We held a surprise baby shower for them a few weeks ago and I wanted to share what I made. Taking old tutorials and giving them some fresh new colour. For this project I used my burp cloth tutorial and my cotton bag tutorial. The whole project took about 2 hours, which includes stopping to take some pictures. You could probably knock this double set out in 90 minutes, or even an hour if you were only doing one set.
For the cotton bag I used a heavy outdoor fabric to give it some weight, yet I wanted to keep with the purple theme. It was a bit of a bonus to find a coordinating chevron fabric. So fun.
One trick when sewing the burp cloths, iron them, right sides together, first. The ironing step keeps the fabric nice and taught, giving you a much more polished piece.
When we had the shower, cake and lemonade in pure summer fashion, one of the girls was confused. You made these? Not the bag, though, since it has a tag. Yup, I made it all – the tags are mine. What? NO! Really?
So cute. It makes you feel good when people are caught off guard by your hidden talents. Life is fun.
Fold up the projects and tie them with some matching ribbon. My initial plan was to put the burp cloths in the bag and use it as a gift bag, yet the bag look lackluster, so I simply folded it up like the burp cloths.
All in all, a little pop of colour for the two baby girls to be.
