Travel: University of Alberta Botanical Gardens
The University of Alberta Botanical Gardens are such a wonderful place to visit – and every season is a different experience! We visited at the end of fall and guess what – for about two weeks each fall they allow dogs to visit for free – cool, eh? Daphne got to explore the gardens with us – it was so much fun! Okay, let’s check out some photos. University of Alberta Botanical Gardens You’ll probably want to spend about an hour and a half –…

Travel: Hiking in Jasper
Hiking in Jasper – beautiful lakes, marvellous mountains, and fresh air is what hiking in the backcountry is all about. We visited Jasper a few weeks ago and followed all the travel protocols that are in place and it was a blast. So nice to get away and spend some time outside. Okay, let’s check out some photos from our hike. Hiking in Jasper We hiked the five lakes trail. The trail wasn’t quiet (we most certainly saw people), yet it wasn’t packed either. Look…

Travel: Jasper Sky Tram
The Jasper Sky Tram was a highlight of our weekend getaway to Jasper a few weekends ago. The best part? They let Daphne on the tram! Jasper Sky Tram The hotel we stayed at (following all COVID-19 protocols) had a voucher for $50.00 off a handful of attractions in the area, one of them being the tram. That, paired with Daphne’s ticket being $5.45, we signed up for a flight around 10am on Sunday. The day was beautiful and full of so much fresh and…

Travel: Elk Island Backcountry
Elk Island backcountry – for our 8th wedding anniversary celebration we headed out to Elk Island to experience some down time. We hiked, had a fire, neglected to set up our tent when it was nice, got caught in the rain and finished the trip off with a paddleboard. The backcountry camp sites are about 4km from the nearest parking lot – Oster Lake. Check out this huge bison in our way – well, we’re actually on his turf. One of the first things we…

Travel: 3 Days in Victoria
Yes, 3 days in Victoria! That’s honestly all you need. This city is less than 100,000 people and it’s easily walkable if the weather is nice. Looking for a place to say? Check out this place in the harbour. We visited Beacon Hill Park and saw so many plants, flowers, and birds – it was so much fun. Plus, a nice needed walk after our hike. Check out how colourful this peacock is – he came right up to us. I’ve heard they can be…

Travel: Royal British Columbia Museum
The Royal British Columbia Museum is a great place to spend the morning if you’re out and about in Victoria. Plus, the IMax is usually a fun experience. Royal British Columbia Museum On the day we visited, May 17, it was the very first day of the Mayan Exhibit. Pretty neat seeing as how we just visited Mexico this past winter. Something that was interesting is that on the plaques on the walls, like at most museums, they had little stories. Well, some of them…

Travel: Victoria Eats
Victoria eats 2019 – some of our favourite places to eat in Victoria. We had some places we didn’t enjoy so much (Cafe Mexico, Be Love) yet they’d still get a 6/10. Just not worth it in my opinion. All of these places below – at least an 8 or 9, if not 10 out of 10. First up, La Taqueria Pinche Taco Shop. They’re open late and offer some upscale tacos that bring some big flavours. This is the same chain from our Vancouver…
