Travel: Banff National Park 2024
Banff National Park 2024 – a camping, hiking, and paddleboarding trip in June. We had great weather, cool nights, and hit the sub zero water while out paddleboarding. All in all, we were thankful for the fire and a warm Boler to lay our heads.

First up, paddleboarding. We got these boards back in 2018 and have enjoyed a few adventures with them in glacial water. Waterton Lakes? Check. Jasper? Check-Check. Banff? Check-Check-Check! Third time’s a charm, right? Well, not when it’s windy.
Check out the movement in the water in the photo below – it doesn’t look bad, but it’s windy, that’s for sure. We should have just gone the one way, but we decided to try and paddle back and it didn’t work out so well. One of us hit the freezing water.
After that, we headed back to Tipsy, laid out the wet clothes, and warmed up by the fire.
The next day we went hiking. Johnston Canyon is awesome – if you haven’t been, check it out. And hike the whole way, not just to the first falls, keep going. It’s worth it.
After grabbing some snacks and having lunch by the fire, we hiked around Lake Minnewanka in the afternoon, the same lake we paddleboarded in the day before.
On our third day we hiked Tunnel Mountain Summit. It’s a hike, let me tell you. The view, though, it makes you feel so small and yet a part of something magical at the same time. The air is clean and you can see the train from the summit!
Hiking, paddleboarding, and camping is how we spent a few days in Banff National Park 2024. Be sure you get outside, soak in the fresh air and have some snacks.
Milk Duds and Fresca – the perfect post hike snack.
