Travel: Dublin Zoo
Dublin Zoo – it’s a fantastic way to spend a morning or an afternoon, walking, seeing the animals, and enjoying the company you’re with. The zoo is in Phoenix Park (more on that soon!) and is about 70 acres. We put on about 30,000 steps – we walked a lot. The zoo opens at 9:30am, and we got there shortly after it opened and spent the morning – so about 2.5 hours. We booked our tickets online to save about 15%, plus they have student prices! Okay, now for the photos.
Dublin Zoo
First up, we saw the lions – they’re so big. Massive. Plus, they were both very active, which is neat to see. The day we visited it was rather cool, around 12-15 degrees celsius, which is perfect zoo weather.
After we checked out the lions, we took a peek at the map to ensure we didn’t miss anything.
Then, onward to the tail-swinging creatures!
Do you know what the Dublin Zoo has? Giraffes! That’s right, a whole pack, or is it a herd…let me check. Nope, it’s a tower! A whole group of giraffes are called a tower. That’s wild, and it made my day. Okay, here’s a tower of giraffes (haha!).
After we spent a whole lot of time with the giraffes, we ventured to see the gorillas. We didn’t see them at first, but then we heard them grunting, so we stuck around to see them on the move. Can you spot the second one?!
Up next, some elephants and some reptiles. Oh, the zoo also had a bone room, with skulls, skeletons, and sketches of animals. Guess how many bones a human has in its neck? Seven! Now, guess how many a giraffe has? It’s the same – seven. Wild, eh?!
Well, there you have it, our trip to the Dublin Zoo.
Be sure to visit if you have time, plus the walk through Phoenix Park is awesome – more on that in the near future.
Thanks for visiting and we’ll see you again soon.
Happy travelling!
