Travel: Katara Cultural Village
The Katara Cultural Village in Doha, Qatar. It’s full of restaurants, art, and shops and is actually a highlight on our trip to Doha. They even have a Galeries Lafayette, like in Paris! Okay, let’s start with some of the art – first up are some photos of a few of the galleries we visited.
Katara Cultural Village
First up, wear comfortable shoes and get ready to walk around all afternoon. Popping in and out of little art galleries can make for sore feet. On our visit we learned about the dhows, which fill the harbour, and the history is fascinating.
In addition to the art galleries, the village itself is full of art, from sculpture and paintings on buildings, or the buildings themselves, the vibe is rich in culture.
This sculpture below was one of our favourites outside of Galeries Lafayette.
As far as the shops, there are various quaint ones, and also some bigger ones. While we checked out a few, we visited the stunning grocery store below. Actually, it’s more like a speciality store or food hall. The best part is they had a gluten free section and they even had the Kinnikinnick brand which is based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Lastly, a key feature of the Katara Cultural Village is the amphitheater, not only is it Greek inspired, it’s also stunning, especially when the sun is setting – check out the light!
Oh, and once you’ve spent time checking out the village, be sure to head down to the water. The Corniche is also a great way to spend an evening. Plus, they have vendors and snacks on the walkway, too.
Well, there you have it – the Katara Cultural Village in Doha, Qatar. If you’re interested, check out their website since there are often different events or festivals happening, which can be fun to check out.
