Scott Aquarium - a great adventure in Omaha!

Scott Aquarium – one of the features at the Omaha Zoo. This place is full of underwater creatures, some beautiful colours, and breathtaking plants. Let’s check out some of the photos from the aquarium.

First, the aquarium is a nice break from the heat. We visited in late July, early August when the temperature was in the high 30s with around 80-85% humidity – talk about hot!

The underwater colours are amazing – I’m often caught off guard by how colourful plants are under the water. I suppose it’s that childhood lake swimming that gets me – the water is so deep, so dark, so cold that it’s hard imagine anything so beautiful in the water. When you’re eight it’s only full of scary monsters!

Check out all the different types of fish. I enjoy reading the plaques in aquariums, zoos, and even galleries to get a better sense of what I’m looking at. Here, I was in awe of the hardworking coral.

Now, for some fish on the move.

The fish with the horizontal stripes and the touch of orange is my favourite. I’m pretty sure I recognize him from our time in Akumal or at Xel-Ha. He’s a quick swimmer, that’s for sure!

Okay – up next, some underwater silver fish and my favourite, jellyfish.

These jellyfish above remind me of the ones in Vancouver – I’m quite sure that’s where I fell in love with jellies.

The guy above has such a neat pattern, reminds me a bit of the giraffes at the Omaha zoo. It’s eye catching and I bet it helps camouflage this eel.

Well, there you have it – some colourful photos from the Scott Aquarium at the Omaha zoo. Soon I’ll share the full zoo experience. It was an awesome day.

Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon.
