Travel: Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden

The Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is a stunning place to visit, walk around, take a break, and people watch. You can use your Suica card to gain access, or buy a ticket. It’s 500 yen, so just under 5 dollars Canadian. Worth it!

One of our favourite things to do while travelling is people watch, eat snacks, and just be for a bit. After we hiked Mount Takao we took the metro back into the city, stopped at a grocery store for some snacks and then visited the garden. Let’s check out some photos.

First, the map! If you’re looking for specific trees or plans, you’ll want to check out the map. We walked through every area and loved what we saw. We even caught a photo of a tree we have at home (I think!).

I was awe struck by some of the massive trees as we entered. Check out how big these trees are – it’s wild.

The walk ways are a plenty, taking you all over the garden. The skyline offers an interesting contrast and the air smells like freshness.

As you can see, the sky was a bit cloudy, but the sun broke through with some warmth from time to time during out visit. Check out all these people on the lawn, taking in the warm November day.

The tree above is like one we have at home, although this one is much more robust. It must like only a little bit of snow, and a little bit of freezing. I don’t blame it, not one bit.
