Recipe: Candy Corn and White Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Halloween is almost here and with this season comes candy corn! I’ve never been a big fan of candy corn, however, in this recipe I wanted to try them because of their colour. Let me tell you, these candy corn and white chocolate chip cookie bars are great! Last weekend I spent my Saturday baking about 8 different recipes and out of the 8, which I will share over the next week or so, this is my favourite. Bake up and eat up. Ingredients 1…

    Review: Saison

Saison Background It’s a review. Not something that I ever do on this blog, however, our experience last night at Saison in San Francisco was not only memorable, but one worth sharing. Sure…I could go on Yelp, Urbanspoon, or even Zaget and share my expereince and I still might, yet I wanted to share it with you, first. It takes around 8 weeks to get a reservation and with our up coming trip to San Francisco it was on my list of things to do.…

    Photos: Mexico

Before the Trip Crossing the border into Mexico – through San Ysidro, San Diego. The plan – visit Tijuana, Mexico for a few hours while we were vacationing in Southern California. I called our car insurance provider to ensure we would be covered if something happened – minor damage all the way up to third party liability – she said no. Actually, she screamed NO in capital letters causing me massive frustration. In response I articulated that we were not the first, surly, to venture…

    Recipe: Baked Apple Chips

Again with the apples. This time, baked apple chips. Not only are they easy to make, they are a delightfully light snack. You’ll eat them up. Ingredients 4-5 apples 1 teaspoon of cinnamon 4 teaspoons of sugar Set the oven to 275 degrees – let it heat up. First – wash your apples. Cut them at thinly as possible. You can core them if you like, however, I didn’t. The core leaves a little crunch and texture. Pat them dry and lay them down on…

    Recipe: Apple Butter

Fall is here! Oh, and so is thanksgiving – happy thanksgiving to all my Canadian fans! When October hits I know it’s time to pluck the apples from our tree. Last year we pruned it, so it didn’t produce any apples. This year, however, the apples were plentiful. Time for apple butter. Here we go…apple butter in the slow cooker. Much like the strawberry-ruhbarb butter I made last month, this one has little sugar and keeps for about 4-5 weeks in the fridge. Ingredients 5…

    Disney’s Cars Land

Cars Land – one of the huge reasons to head to Disney California Adventure. Disney’s Cars Land See the photo above? The crew members walked us back at opening…this prevents people from running and trampling over each other just to get to the line first…they walk you nice and slowly. Get to the park early to ensure you’re upfront and ready! Okay – some things you need to know: The fast past distribution centre is by ‘it’s tough to be a bug’ not by the…

    Disney’s Pixar Parade

The Pixar Parade – at Disney California Adventure. Disney’s Pixar Parade The parade was so much fun…note, you will get wet! The characters spray water. Best spot to watch, across from The Little Mermaid ride…and just like your spot at Disneyland, you can sneak back to Paradise Pier and enjoy the rides with shorter lines! Enjoy the photos. My favourite are the flying girls from Toy Story. What’s her name? Jessie, yes – that’s it. Jessie flies and flies over the rails. It’s fun for…
