Recipe: Churro French Toast

Churro French Toast: 3ten.ca

Churro french toast on this fine Sunday morning. It’s the best way to wake up. I’ve done churro pancakes, churro waffles (which are so awesome), and even churro donuts. This is the best recipe for day old french bread. You might need a whole loaf, depending on how hungry your family is – so get ready for them to love this delicious breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of french bread
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1/2 cup of almond milk
  • an egg
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla and cinnamon

Churro Mix Topping

  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon

First – slice up your bread. As I said above, the day old french loaf is the best. Buy it while you’re out grocery shopping on Saturday and mark ‘off limits’ to all of those fresh bread lovers.

Get the churro mix ready – just mix up the sugar and the cinnamon.

Time to french up the toast. In a large flat dish, mix together the almond milk, the egg, the vanilla and the 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.

Coat the bread.

Be sure to get both sides nice and soaked with the flavour goodness.

Drop the butter into a hot pan and put in the toast. Cook each side for about 2-3 minutes. Be sure not to burn it.

Dip the bread into the churro mix topping – coat both sides evenly. You’ll want to do this as soon as they come out of the pan. The hotter, the better.

Done. Time to eat up.

We top it with nothing…just eat it up. You can eat it with syrup, agave, or even a bit of cream cheese drizzle (cream cheese whipped with a bit of milk). The french toast is best just as is, though!

Thanks for visiting. Oh, are you cooking for a big group? If so, try my baked french toast recipe. It uses the great french loaf, too, yet it’s prepped ahead of time, leaving you time to socialize with your guests.

Enjoy!
