Recipe: GF Toffee Crack
GF toffee crack – not just for Christmas time, right? This sweet treat is delicious and usually made around the winter holiday season. I’m pretty sure I’ve made Christmas Crack, yet not gluten free. So, here we are in all it’s glory, this sweet toffee treat. Let’s get baking.
Ingredients
- 40 gluten free saltine crackers
- 2 sticks of butter
- packed 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla
- large cup of chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup of pecan pieces
First, line a baking sheet with tin foil. This will help keep the mess at bay and will make for fast cleanup. Then, heat the oven to 335 degrees.
Lay out the 40 gluten free crackers on the pan.
Next, melt the butter in a pan on low and once fully melted add the vanilla and brown sugar, then whisk until well combined. Bring to a bubble for about 3-4 minutes and then pour over the crackers and slip into the oven for another 3-4 minutes.
Once the pan comes out of the oven, cover with chocolate chips and let it sit for 3-4 minutes (allowing the chips to melt) then spread and top with pecan pieces. Chill for an hour, crack and eat up.
This treat is so delicious – it’s cheap, easy and ready in only a little over an hour.
I used semi-sweet chocolate chips on this one, yet I think milk chocolate would be the favourite. You pick!
When you’re cracking the GF toffee crack it works best if you cut the whole sheet into four large sections and then break it up by hand. Before you do any of this, though, pull it away from the foil and place it on the cutting board.
Store in an air tight container in the fridge – it’ll keep for 5-7 days, yet I doubt it’ll last that long!
Well, there you have it, a quick and easy treat to make any time of the year.
Thanks for visiting and I’ll see you again soon. Bye!
