Sewing: Christmas Tree Skirt
This is a tutorial to make a Christmas tree skirt in about 10 minutes. It’s quick, easy and useful year after year. Let’s get sewing.
What You Need
- fabric that measures 50 x 50 (or 45 x 45)
- matching thread
- serger
- scissors
First – find a fabric you like and ensure it’s pre washed. Next, fold it in half one way and then fold it in half the other way. Now you’ll have a square that measures 25×25.
Cut the corner (the one with all the open edges) in a rounded shape. I want my tree skirt to be a bit boxy and square, not so rounded. If you want a full circle, cut from corner to corner.
Now, cut out a 2.5 inch square on the opposite corner. Open the tree skirt up. Cut a straight line from one side to the edge of the square.
Lastly, serge using your rolled hem stitch, all around the tree skirt.
Done!
See how nice the edging is?
Use under your tree and get ready to stack it with gifts.
See you again next time.
We’ll be making another holiday treat. So tasty!
