Travel: Artists for Kettle Yard
The Artists for Kettle Yard is a for-purchase art gallery down the road from Fitzwilliam College. The art, of course, changes, so if you check it out one week, you might be surprised the next season that things have changed. We walked by about a handful of times before it was the right time to pop in. And we’re super happy we did. Okay, let’s check it out.
Artists at Kettle Yard
First up, it’s free. The House isn’t (more on that soon), yet the gallery is free to take a peek whenever it’s open.
Also, if you’re in the mood, there’s a cafe with coffee and treats – the courtyard is a delightful place to hand out and it’s away from the busy street, which can be appealing for some.
Inside, there’s a great deal of literature in the gallery. Plus, a few people are on-site to help you if you’re interested in making a purchase.
For us, we were most interested in seeing the art.
I really like the one above; there’s something freeing about the bird, the sky, and the blue. It’s peaceful, that’s for sure. Oh, and the one with the tree and the fox is awesome, too. There’s something simplistic about them both.
Also, don’t forget to make your way upstairs. There’s an interactive table – you can draw some fun things – and a lot of pieces on the wall with red dots, so you can see what’s been most popular for people to buy. That was one of the highlights for me, since one of the most popular pieces wasn’t something I’d ever consider. That’s the beauty of art!
Well, there you have it, the Artists for Kettle Yard – if you’re visiting Cambridge, UK, then be sure to check it out.
Happy travelling and we’ll see you again soon.
