Recipe: Chewy Country Cookies

Chewy Country Cookies: 3ten.ca

One of the best holiday gifts to give – cookie mix in a jar! They’re fun to make and even more fun to receive. Mix it up for a baby shower with pink and blue m&ms, or orange ones for Halloween…even all red for Valentine’s Day.  Bakerella has inspired me and I was struck with the creativity this project can offer…soon I hope to come up with brownies in a jar.

What You Need

  • 1 Ball jar – or an 8 cup mason jar – I found mine at Michaels
  • 1/4 a yard of fabric (for 6 jars)
  • Ribbon
  • Ingredients listed below

Ingredients

per jar and layer order

  • 1 1/3 cups of flour
  • 1 cup of oats
  • 3/4 cup of m&ms
  • 3/4 cup of chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of white sugar
  • 1/3 cup of chopped pecans

Get out the bowls to fill with the various ingredients…works well if you’re making more than 1 or 2 gifts.

Layer away! Be sure to pack in all in tightly…I started packing after the m&ms…otherwise the pecans won’t fit.

Make labels – or use mine…cooking instructions are on top of the jar!

I used a hot glue gun to put on the labels – the instructions on top of the jar and the label on the front. Then, cut your fabric about 6 inches by 6 inches, cover the lid and tie the ribbon tightly to secure.

Gift away!
