Recipe: Gouda Quesadilla with Apple and Onions
Gouda quesadillas with apple and onions – what could be better? This recipe is sure to please since it’s sweet with a bit of smoke, oh, and the corn tortillas make the dish. So good. Try it this week. Oh, and it’s gluten free, since I’m using corn tortillas.
Time to cook! This recipe makes 5 quesadillas, so modify if you like.
Ingredients
- 1 large apple
- 2 small white onions
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- dashes of brown sugar
- 10 corn tortillas
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1 1/2 cups of shredded gouda cheese
First, gather all of your ingredients. Be sure to select high quality gouda, it’s full of better flavour. The gouda is the star of the recipe, let it shine.
Melt the 1 tablespoon of butter in a pan and add the apple, onions and brown sugar. Let the apples and onions caramelize and get brown. Shredded the gouda while the filling is cooking.
Once the filling is cooked, set it aside. Butter your corn tortillas. Now, in a new pan (or clean the pan you already used) lay down one tortilla and top with filling and then gouda cheese. Then, top with another buttered tortilla (butter side out, like a grilled cheese). Let it cook on each side for 2-4 minutes – flip a few times, so it doesn’t burn on each side.
Let the cheese get all melty – that’s the best part.
Done? Yup, done. Time to eat (after you cook them all, or cook one, eat one, cook another, eat another).
Enjoy!
The onions and the apple compliment the gouda nicely – they don’t steal the show, but rather sing backup. It’s beautiful.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great week. I’ve got another gouda recipe coming up soon and it’s sure to please, too.
Check out other gluten free recipes on the blog – bye for now.
