Photos: Daphne Gets a Haircut
Daphne gets a haircut! Well, this is her fifth big haircut and she’ll be two in July. She’s an Afghan Hound and her hair keeps growing and growing. She’s such a pretty pup, but her long hair is a magnet for sticks (sometimes branches), dirt and all things wilderness. Back in late April she got a haircut and looks like a totally different pup – same sassiness, though – no worries there! Okay, let’s check out some before photos. Before This bed is her favourite…

Travel: Elk Island Winter Hike
Elk Island winter hike. We’ve been hiking at Elk Island before and even in the winter, yet not with Daph-Daph! This little afternoon was well spent hiking the ~4 km trail called Beaver Pond. No, we didn’t see any beavers, yet we saw some open plains and enjoyed the fresh clean air. Let’s check out these photos! Elk Island Winter Hike One thing that bothers me about Elk Island, and I’d say most hiking trails is that their estimate for the hike is usually far…

Photos: Woof Wednesday 4.0
Woof Wednesday 4.0! I don’t think I’ll ever stop sharing photos of Daph-Daph here on the blog, so Woof Wednesdays are officially a thing, especially considering we’re running the fourth edition! Bella and Lily had a couple of Woof Wednesdays, too. Okay, today we’re celebrating having Daphne the Afghan Hound in our lives for one year (well, one year and 3 weeks today!) – these photos were taken on the exact same weekend one year later. She’s grown so much. Such a cutie. She was…

Recipe: Canadian Thanksgiving 2019
Canadian Thanksgiving 2019 – that’s right, it’s time to give thanks, spend time with family, and eat some delicious food. Fall usually feels like a new year to me – shedding the old, making way for the new. Or maybe it’s because of school – both as a student and as a previous high school teacher. Either way, the fall, September and October, feel like a new beginning and Thanksgiving fits so well into that theme – being thankful for life and family. So, what…

Project: Easter Brunch 2019
It’s that time – time for Easter Brunch 2019. Don’t you just love brunch? It’s like it’s own little extra meal. On days when we have brunch, I’ve usually eaten something small in the morning, like yogurt and fruit, then have brunch around 11am. Then around 2pm a snack and then dinner at the usual time. In no way shape or form does this one meal cancel out two. And, in no way do I eat twice as much than at another meal. All of…
