Recipe: The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies – Oilers Edition
New York Times rated this recipe the best – like truly the best. One thing, however – you must cook them properly! In this edition, since the NHL decided to come back to life and wake up our city, I though, what better way to show some spirit than with some good eats. Ingredients 2 cups minus 2 tablespoons of cake flour 1 2/3 cups of all purpose flour or bread flour 1 1/4 teaspoons of baking soda, powder and coarse salt 2 1/2 sticks…

Project: Heavy Blanket
Heavy blankets are key for comfy couch time – especially in the winter! I usually buy the discount fabric in the back of the store – it’s about 3$ a meter (I pick only fabrics that are 60 inches wide) and I get 2 meters of 5 different fabrics. So, it’s roughly a 30$ project – not bad for keeping warm! Pick out 5 fabrics that aren’t necessarily matchy-matchy but simply look good together. Different textures work well, too. As you can see above –…

Recipe: Chewy Country Cookies
One of the best holiday gifts to give – cookie mix in a jar! They’re fun to make and even more fun to receive. Mix it up for a baby shower with pink and blue m&ms, or orange ones for Halloween…even all red for Valentine’s Day. Bakerella has inspired me and I was struck with the creativity this project can offer…soon I hope to come up with brownies in a jar. What You Need 1 Ball jar – or an 8 cup mason jar –…

Snowman Time!
Snowman Time It’s not very often that the snow in Northern Alberta gets heavy and dense like it does in Ontario – the perfect snowman making snow. This kind of snow calls for a high-five, for sure! Bella supervising while Lily hunts for branches for arms in the background. Lily helping, or rather trying to eat the snowman. I didn’t have dogs growing up, and as an adult I’m more amazed by them – I can’t believe how much my pups love to eat snow.…

Ingredients 1 graham cracker crust container of Cool Whip 1 pack of chocolate pudding 2 cups of milk (as per pudding directions) your favourite chocolate bars – 2 of them (Toblerone) Skor chips Reese Minis…

Photos: LA Zoo
LA Zoo Our visit to the LA Zoo in early October – we got there at 9:50 and were greeted by flamingos rushing towards us! So fun. This Koala is such a cute little site…he climbed on the roof of his structure. He got stuck and it took him about 5 minutes to try and figure out how to get back down – it was my favourite experience of the whole day. Plus, seeing a Koala makes me think of Sheldon Cooper and his Koala…
